Description
Two figures, one heart, held in geometry.
The Heart Unbroken is a single square composition, 150 × 150 centimetres, in leaded stained glass set into a hand-prepared wood ground. Two figures in profile face one another across the surface, their hands raised in mirrored gesture. Between them, at the exact centre of the work, an anatomical heart is rendered in deep red glass — fractured, but whole.
The geometry is deliberate. The figures are contained within an inverted triangle; the heart sits within an upright triangle; the two superimpose into a hexagram that organizes the whole composition. The medium — stained glass, a tradition older than oil painting — is used here not for narrative or devotion, but as an instrument of structure. Each lead line is a decision. Each piece of glass is cut, ground, and set by hand.
The work reads differently at different hours. Direct daylight saturates the reds and amber tones of the central form; reflected light surfaces the cream and clay of the figures; lamp-light brings forward the deep wood ground. It is, by its nature, site-responsive — a work whose final image is completed by the room it enters.
It is offered as a single, unique object. There are no editions, no prints, no derivatives, and none are planned.
